This writing sample is from the introductory post I made to the BCSC Inquiries Blog
My name is Stephanie and I’d like to introduce you to the new BCSC Inquiries Blog. As a member of our Inquiries team, I work the front line and I answer approximately 50 of your questions, complaints and concerns every day. I hope to take some of what I hear from you – the public, and post about it here. I firmly believe that if one person asks questions about the conduct of their advisor, or wants more information about the nature of private investments or has a question about what it means when a company has been cease traded then, chances are, many more of you probably have the same question.
And it’s my job to give you the answers.
Even though our two websites, the BCSC website and Investright, are comprehensive and wonderful tools, sometimes it helps to get answers from a “real person” – and that’s me! I might use website information to supplement my answers, but I’ll also explain things to you in a way that’s accessible and not bogged down with legalese.
I encourage you to talk to me and give me feedback. This is a brand new blog and its future will be shaped by the needs and wants of the investing public. If there’s something you want to see here, please let me know. I’m open to any and all suggestions. As long as the information is related to investing, I’m all ears.
This is just a short intro post, so the questions will start next week. I’m aiming to update this blog once a week. That will give me time to build up common questions and post a number of them (3-5) per blog post. I hope to hit a range of questions each time and answer everything from common investing questions to deciphering some of the language in a prospectus document.
Think of me as a resource. I’m there for you – the investor. I’m here to help shine the light of understanding on the sometimes dark and scary world of investing. I’m excited to start this blog and I see it as a new and innovative way to help investors. I hope to hear from you soon!
